Courses for Access PA Services Available Through WebJunction Pennsylvania

Access PA is pleased to make the following courses available via WebJunction Pennsylvania. The $5 WebJunction fee is waived for Access Pennsylvania courses taken by WebJunction Pennsylvania affiliates.

Access PA Database Online Beginner Training Course	For librarians and library aides new to Access PA, the course covers locating information on the Access PA website, searching the Access PA Database, using the VDX ILL system, and keeping a library's holdings updated in the Database.	7	$0

POWER Library: AP Images	For librarians and library aides new to the AP Images resource. This course will show you how to use the AP Images resource to access the unparalleled archives of The Associated Press.	3	$0

Understanding and Promoting Ask Here PA	This course is designed for librarians and classroom teachers who wish to better understand how Ask Here PA works and be able to successfully promote Ask Here PA in your library and classroom.	3	$0

VDX ILL System Version 4.1.3	For librarians and library aides familiar with the VDX ILL system. Covers the new features available in VDX ILL system version 4.1.3	4	$0

About WebJunction Pennsylvania

WebJunction Pennsylvania makes a large selection of online workshops and training courses available to library employees, library board members, and trustees in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania free of charge. This service is supported by a grant from the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

To access the subsidized courses, eligible persons must first Request Course Access (see instructions, below).

HSLC/Access PA created WebJunction Pennsylvania in partnership with WebJunction, an online learning community that incorporates social software features to encourage community building. Members of the WebJunction community share their ideas and experience and promote best practices in libraries. Pennsylvania joins over fifteen other states in this cooperative educational system. Course content is contributed by the cooperative. The WebJunction system keeps track of courses taken and can generate a certificate upon course completion.

Detailed Instuctions for Registering with WebJunction Pennsylvania

Visit the WebJunction Pennsylvania.
Along the right-hand side of the PA WebJunction page, click the Request Course Access link.
Complete the Request WebJunction Course Access form, indicating Pennsylvania as your State Partner.
Course access requests may take 24 hours to process.

Once your WebJunction Course Access has been approved via email, follow the directions to enroll in any of the online courses from the WebJunction Course list, selecting Pennsylvania Courses, then Library Services to take one of the approved Act 48 credit courses listed above.
