An Overview of the VDX Process

  1. A patron requests material their library does not own.
  2. The Requesting library searches the Access Pennsylvania Database and submits an ILL request using the Access Pennsylvania Database ILL Request form.
  3. The request is automatically submitted to VDX and the Rota is configured.
  4. The request forwards through the Rota until a Responding library is able to ship the requested item.
  5. Responding library performs the Shipped action and sends the material.
  6. The Requesting library receives the item and performs the Received action.
  7. The item is circulated to the patron.
  8. The patron returns the item to the Requesting library.
  9. The Requesting library ships the item back to the Responding library and performs the Returned action.
  10. The Responding library receives the item and performs the Checked In action.
  11. VDX auto-completes the request, removing it from both the responder and requester's results list as the request has gone full circle and is complete.
